California Pain Doctors InjectionsThere are many types of back and lower extremity pain that do not require surgical intervention. Rather, these conditions are optimally treated with non-surgical therapies. In many cases, various types of injections can be used to alleviate pain. For many, the use of steroid injections can provide adequate relief. Injection therapies can be coupled with therapeutic rehabilitation, medications, and many other pain management techniques. Pre-Procedure Instructions

Please read through and abide by the following instructions for all surgery center procedures requiring/electing for anesthesia. Patients that fail to comply with pre-procedure instructions may require rescheduling.

  1. No food or drink after the midnight (For diabetic, cardiac, etc. patients, exceptions may apply).
  2. A designated driver is required post-procedure. Please arrange in advance for a friend or family member to pick you up.
  3. Wear comfortable clothing. You will be required to put on a hospital gown.
  4. Take all blood pressure medications, heart medications, and/or pain medications (except those listed below) as early as possible in the morning with a small sip of water.
  5. Do NOT take the following blood thinners*:

NSAIDS: for three days prior to procedure. Includes: Aspirin (Ecotrin, Excedrin, Aggrenox), Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, Nuprin), Naproxen (Naprosyn, Aleve, Anaprox), Meloxicam (Mobic), Nabumetone (Relafen), Celebrex, Indomethacin (Indocin), Diclofenac (Voltaren, Flector, Arthrotec), Ketorolac (Toradol), or medications containing any of the above.

Warfarin (Coumadin): for five days prior to procedure.

Clopidogrel (Plavix): for seven days prior to procedure.

Others: Tirofiban (Aggrastat), Eptifibatide (Integrilin), Abciximab (Reopro), Cilostazol (Pletal), Dibagatran (Pradaxa), Ticlodipine (Ticlid).

Let the surgery center office staff and/or your operating physician know IMMEDIATELY if you are taking any of the above medications or have failed to stop taking them in time.

*always check with your prescribing physician prior to discontinuing any medications. Discontinuing medications without physician advice may lead to life-threatening complications.
