Herniated Discs
Normal wear and tear as well as the aging process can cause disc to rupture. This condition is known as a herniated disc. These discs can push against a nerve root causing pain to occur. The sciatic nerve can cause burning, tingling, or numbness from the lower back to the feet.
Vertbral discs act as the spines shock absorbers by cushioning the bones while allowing them to bend. Discs are made of two parts – a soft inner nucleus and outer wall.
Herniated discs happen when a tear forms in the wall of a disc. The nucleus can become hard and break apart and push through existing tears in the walls. Nerve roots can be pinched and cause pain.
