Ryan was born at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, as his father served in the US Army. Ryan grew up in Westminster, CA and attended La Quinta High School.
Ryan graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1991 with a B.S in Psychobiology. As a senior at UCLA, Ryan worked for a rheumatologist in Beverly Hills as a physical therapy aide, computer billing manager, and research assistant.
A strong interest in drug-free healing led him to Portland, Oregon, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1996 at Western States Chiropractic College. Dr. Nakasone owned Rincon Chiropractic in Carpinteria, CA and enjoyed private practice for 13 years from 1997 to 2010. During these years, Ryan was heavily involved in civic life in Carpinteria, serving on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Directors (Club Secretary and Club President) for the Rotary Club of Carpinteria.
Ryan left his chiropractic practice in 2010 and enrolled in the Primary Care Associate Program at the Stanford University School of Medicine (Physician Assistant studies), matriculating in 2012. Ryan was the Class Historian and chosen as the Class Speaker at Graduation in Memorial Hall.
As a PA, Ryan has experience working in orthopedics, assisting in surgeries and total joint replacement at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, in ortho-spine surgery, and in neurosurgery and ICU care at Ventura County Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center. Ryan has worked with Dr. Kiker at Spanish Hills Interventional Pain Specialists since 2014.
Ryan is married and lives in Ventura, where they raised their 2 children. His hobbies include: backpacking, fly fishing, mountain biking, photography, bonsai gardening, ukulele, and playing with his dog, Peaches.
Ryan Nakasone became a Doctor of Chiropractic and Physician Assistant because of a desire to alleviate human suffering and dysfunction, and improve the quality of life for his patients. He describes himself as detail-oriented, compassionate, but disciplined. Dr. Nakasone enjoys working at Spanish Hills Interventional Specialists with a great team of providers.
